George Samaan

George Samaan, inspired by the soundtrack from Jurassic Park, picked up the trombone in 2001. Living in the Chicago-land area, he started studying with Timothy Riordan at the Merit School of Music. Since then, his goal of becoming a professional trombonist has become realistic.

Before starting his undergrad at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, he played in Merit's Honors Trombone Quartet, better known as The Bone Rangers! They have been the top wind group at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and have performed on “From the Top: Live from Carnegie Hall”.

He played in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra all four years of high school, and it has taken him on two international tours. One trip went to Poland, Czech Republic, and Germany (2007). And the other tour travelled to Argentina and Uruguay (2009). Through CYSO, he has the memory of playing with Gustavo Dudamel, conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic!

Being the newest member of Horns a Plenty, he is sometimes called, “The Kid”.
