Eric Wayne

Performance Groups

In 1998 accordionist Rick Corrigan and Eric, began playing together during Rick's regular solo night at the Hungarian Sausage Factory in San Francisco. The result was a trio (Rick on accordion, Eric on trumpet and percussion, Peter Gillette on bass) called the "Pick Pocket ensemble," a unique musical experience of folk inspired original compositions referred to as "music without borders."

Eric has performed as a soloist and been involved in a number of San Francisco based jazz, R&B, and Rock & Roll bands. Most recently with the Cartoon Jazz Orchestra, a 13 piece ensemble under the direction of Jeff Sanford that features the music of Raymond Scott. All of you Bugs Bunny fans have heard most of Scott's compositions on any number of the early Warner Bros. cartoons.

You might also see Eric in the brass section of a local orchestra, such as Symphony Parnassus, or possibly even Horns a Plenty!

Education

Eric received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Northern Colorado's School of Music, where he studied under the trumpet Professor William Pfund, as well as two other notable brass teachers, Buddy Baker and Jack Herrick. He also studied in the prestigious Jazz Studies Program at UNC under Gene Aitken.

Other notable teachers that he has drawn experience from are Mark Rafael (then Jazz Trumpet Chair for the United States Air Force Academy Big Band), the well-known trombonist and composer Wayne Wallace, and Woody Herman's former lead trumpet, John Coppola.
