Brian began his musical pursuits at the early age of
three when he pointed to a stereo speaker and said
"Chopin in there".
Faced with a challenging decision in 5th grade between the trombone and violin, he made the obvious choice and hasn't looked back. This began a long happily slippery sliding slope that led him to playing everything and anything from big band jazz to rock and roll, from Bach to Bebop, symphonies to salsa, and duets to an 80 trombone choir. He studied music at San Francisco State University where Will Sudmeier managed to hammer a few things into his head.
He lists Dexter Gordon, Frank Rosolino, Christopher Parkening, Niels-Henning Orsted Pederson, Joe Williams, Miroslav Rostropovich and Michael Brecker, as a few of his many musical influences.
